With 68 percent of the people polled saying that the country is headed in the wrong direction (McClatchy-Marist poll), it seems only natural that a change is needed, since in the past eight years the cost of student loans are up, food stamp participation is up, the federal debt has more than doubled, health insurance costs are up, labor force participation is down, workers’ share of the economy is down, median family income is down and home ownership is way down. This isn’t just doom and gloom — these are actual statistics. So isn’t it past time to change direction?

Terrorism is a distinct possibility now due in part to a failed foreign policy.

We have left our country in the hands of politicians long enough, and it is now time to give Donald Trump, a person with real world business experience, a chance to make life better and safer for all of us.

Ralph Bush, Arroyo Grande
