County Planning Commission earns bouquet for Phillips 66 hearings
We toss a big bouquet of patience and perseverance to the San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission as it heads into its fourth day of public testimony on the rail spur proposed for Phillips 66’s refinery on the Nipomo Mesa.
The commission already has heard from more than 300 members of the public — some of whom arrived in San Luis Obispo by the busload — and will take additional testimony Friday. Speakers have made an effort to raise new points, but some amount of repetition is inevitable. Yet throughout, commissioners have set benchmarks for attentiveness, civility and courtesy, and county staff has done a stellar job of organizing the flow of information and public testimony. Keep up the outstanding work.
