Cano for county clerk
The office of County Clerk Recorder is an important position that impacts every resident of SLO county. The office maintains land records, provides certified copies of birth and death certificates, issues marriage licenses, files business names and runs local elections. The clerk recorder must serve the public efficiently, ensure that the county if following all laws and have the technical skills needed to run elections, all while operating in a transparent manner.
Elaina Cano has proven that she has the skills and integrity to the do job. We cannot afford to elect a county clerk who does not have the legal or technical background to do the job. Vote Elaina Cano for county clerk recorder.

Remember to vote!
Just passing along a friendly reminder and public service announcement to all registered County voters. Please vote by June 2, because our democracy is currently under attack by billionaires and their tools like never before, at least in the modern era. And if you live in South County (District 4), remember that a vote for Adam Verdin is a vote for Trump.

Paulding for public safety
Local elections are the foundation of our democracy. This is where your vote really makes a difference with thin margins often determining results.
On June 2, the race for District 4 supervisor will be determined. If public safety is important to you, here are three accomplishments driven by Jimmy Paulding during his term.
At Fire Station 70 in Nipomo, he increased the number of firefighters per engine from two to three, improving response times and capabilities.
For Oceano, when Oceano CSD could no longer provide fire protection, he was an essential part of the effort to raise $1 million in new funding, without a tax increase, to contract with the Five Cities Fire Authority maintaining service levels and providing reliable fire protection.
His efforts secured $12 million in funding for the new sheriff substation in Nipomo that is currently in the design phase with construction to begin in 2027.
Jimmy gets important things done in our community. Continue his work and vote Jimmy Paulding on June 2.

Stop the $1.8 billion steal
He’ll rip you off in broad daylight and rub your nose in it. He’ll steal your tax money in a fraudulent scam to pay off the outlaws supporting him.
How much? $1.776 billion ($1,776,000,000). 1776 - So “Patriotic”! Happy 250th Birthday, America!
The Thief-in-Chief wants to give your money to the perpetrators of the Jan. 6, 2021, violent attempted coup to overthrow the 2020 election with the rallying cry, “1776 Returns.” Pardoning them, apparently, wasn’t enough. Trump and others called them “political prisoners.”
They and others, convicted by juries of crimes and sentenced by judges, now called victims of government “weaponization,” got the signal and they’re already applying for the cash.
Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal lawyer and now acting U.S. attorney general, will pick the members of a secretive “commission,” who can fire on a whim, to decide who gets your money.
Remember the fake “Stop the Steal” campaign preceding the Jan. 6 insurrection supposedly about voter fraud? The Real Steal is here right now.
In 1776, we rebelled against a monarch’s theft of our right to self-determination and our money. “No taxation without representation” was our rallying cry. Let’s do it again against the $1.776B Real Steal.

Trump’s record-breaking heist
In his book “Moneyland,” Oliver Bullough describes past Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovich, who wrote himself $20 million checks from the country’s treasury, as being at the pinnacle of kleptocratic corruption. However, reading in these pages about our president’s recent $1.8 billion heist from U.S. coffers, it seems that, if you don’t mind me saying, that pinnacle has been trumped.

Be wary of petting zoos
I couldn’t agree more with Jennifer O’Connor’s column on roadside zoos. The same applies to petting zoos. With animals crammed together, coccidia running rampant, children contracting E-coli from animal feces.
Whenever there is money to be made from the exploitation of animals in entertainment, it is always the animals who suffer, and children who may get sick Parents should educate themselves about zoonosis. Animals can contract diseases from humans and vice versa.
