Beach hazards statement issued for Bay Area Shorelines from Tuesday to Friday

On Sunday at 8:25 p.m. the NWS San Francisco CA issued a beach hazards statement valid from Tuesday 5 a.m. until Friday 5 p.m. The statement is for Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes National Seashore, San Francisco Peninsula Coast, Northern Monterey Bay and Big Sur as well as San Francisco County.

The NWS informs, "An increased risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents due to long period SW swell."

"Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion can be expected. Sneaker waves can sweep across the shoreline without warning, pulling people into the sea from rocks, jetties and beaches," describes the NWS. "Stay off of jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside infrastructure. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous surf and NEVER turn your back on the ocean."

This statement is in effect until Friday at 5 p.m.
