When and where clouds will be for SLO fireworks shows this weekend
The July 4 weekend has arrived, and folks are going to be eager to see some fireworks. Whether that is at the SLO Blues baseball game on Friday night, or at the Pismo Beach Pier on Saturday after sunset, it’s not a bad weekend to celebrate a 250th birthday.
But the pesky marine layer could shroud some firework celebrations in the clouds. Here’s what to expect for your July 4 weekend.
Friday will start with the marine layer well inland. Morning temperatures will start in the low 50s and some fog will linger a short while, but the fog will burn off by around 10 a.m. and temps will rise into the low 70s with sunny skies.
By Friday night at 9 p.m., the marine layer with fog and low clouds will return to areas near the coast. With the average height of the clouds being only 300 feet to 600 feet above sea level near Morro Bay, fireworks wouldn’t be great near the ocean. Pismo Beach will likely have better visibility, but the Pismo Beach Pier firework show isn’t until Saturday night.
SLO will fair better for the post-game firework show with the Blues. The marine layer should only be slowly building back in when the game wraps up, so chances are decent for a good show, but it will depend on how long the game goes.
On Independence Day the weather will be a bit different. The morning marine layer burning off Saturday after 10 a.m., but some passing clouds high overhead will be a nice change of pace. You can still expect high temps in the low 70s.
In the evening, a slight change in the winds will thin the marine layer. While visibility on the coast may still be marginal with that marine layer drifting in and out, downtown SLO and even Pismo Beach are looking a tad better for a good show.
Sunny skies return on Sunday to cap off your holiday weekend.
