UPDATE: Extreme heat warning for Northern California from Sunday to Tuesday

At 12:35 p.m. on Friday, the NWS Sacramento CA issued an updated extreme heat warning valid from Sunday 11 a.m. until Tuesday 11 p.m. The warning is for Western Shasta County Mountains Above 3000 ft, Shasta Lake Area and Interstate 5 Between 1000-3000 ft, Eastern Shasta County Foothills Between 1000-3000 ft and Tehama County Coast Range Above 3000 ft.
The NWS informs, "Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 110 degrees expected and widespread Major HeatRisk."
"Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events," explains the NWS.
This warning is in effect until Tuesday at 11 p.m.

- Consume plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
- Seek cool shelter: Opt for an air-conditioned room to stay comfortable.
- Look out for others: Stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
- Protect your little ones and furry friends: Never leave young children and pets alone in vehicles, especially during hot weather when car interiors can become dangerously hot in a matter of minutes.
- Exercise caution outdoors: If you work or spend time outside, take additional safety measures.
- Consider the timing: When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
- Recognize warning signs: Familiarize yourself with symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Stay cool with clothing: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. In an emergency, call 911.
