High surf advisory issued for Ventura County Beaches from Saturday to Monday

At 11:27 a.m. on Thursday, the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA released a high surf advisory valid from Saturday 3 p.m. until Monday 9 a.m. for Ventura County Beaches.

"Large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet with dangerous rip currents," can be expected according to the NWS. "Minor Beach erosion and isolated minor coastal flooding is possible. Most likely during the evening high tides (7pm to 11pm) on Saturday and Sunday."

"There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore," describes the NWS. "Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks."

This advisory is in effect until Monday at 9 a.m.
