On Thursday at 11:27 a.m. a high surf advisory was released by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA valid from Friday 3 p.m. until Monday 9 a.m. for San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches.

"Large breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet with dangerous rip currents. Largest on northwest facing beaches," can be anticipated according to the NWS. "Minor Beach erosion and isolated minor coastal flooding is possible. Most likely during the evening high tides (7pm to 11pm) on Saturday and Sunday."

"There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore," explains the NWS. "Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks."

This advisory is in effect until Monday at 9 a.m.
