Storm brings up to 4 inches of rain to SLO County. See totals in your area

This week’s winter storm brought torrential rain and cool, blustery weather to San Luis Obispo County — and more is on the way through the week.

County locations received anywhere from a 1.10 to nearly 4 inches in the 48-hour period ending at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Rocky Butte, a location in the mountains northeast of Cambria that often leads the county in rainfall, led the way with 3.94 inches.

The San Luis Obispo area received between 1.90 and 2.92 inches, while the South County topped out at around 2.55 inches. North County ranged from 1.19 inches in Templeton to nearly 3 inches in Atascadero.

What’s ahead in SLO County’s forecast?

Across San Luis Obispo County, rain is expected through the end of the week, with temperatures hovering in the mid-50s and little sunshine.

Tuesday’s forecast called for rain and possible thunderstorms after 10 a.m., with winds starting around 10 to 20 mph and increasing to 20 to 30 mph by the afternoon, according to the Weather Service forecast.

Those conditions were likely to hold overnight, with a chance of thunderstorms before 10 p.m. and a slight chance of overnight rain, followed by another thunderstorm after 4 a.m., according to the Weather Service.

Winds could gust as high as 50 mph overnight, and new rainfall was projected between a quarter and half an inch, according to the Weather Service.

Wednesday will bring more of the same, with most rain expected before 10 a.m. and lower winds at 10 to 15 mph and gusts of up to 20 mph, according to the Weather Service.

Less than a tenth of an inch of rain was expected Wednesday, but rain will return overnight at around 4 a.m., with between a quarter and half inch possible, according to the Weather Service.

Again, Thursday was expected to bring between a half and three quarters of an inch of rain before 4 p.m., along with winds between 20 and 25 mph, before nightfall brings lower chances of rain, according to the Weather Service.

On Friday, there’s a low chance of rain in the morning, but the weather should clear by the afternoon providing the only sunny day on the forecast, which will carry into Saturday.

Saturday then shows a slight chance of rain and a high of 61 degrees, according to the Weather Service.

Sunday will bring the warmest temperatures in the forecast with a high of 66 degrees and partly sunny conditions, but rain is anticipated to pick up heading into Monday, according to the Weather Service.
