SLO County is in for a mini heat wave. Here’s how hot it will get
Pack up your beach bags, folks — a short heat wave is headed to San Luis Obispo County just in time for the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for parts of Paso Robles, San Miguel and Lake Nacimiento from 10 a.m. Friday to 9 p.m. on Saturday, as temperatures could reach up to 100 degrees.
“There is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning and those active outdoors,” the Weather Service report said.
To avoid heat illness, drink fluids, check on family and neighbors, stay out of the sun and opt for air-conditioned rooms, the agency said.
If you work outside, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, take frequent breaks and schedule strenuous activities for the early morning and evening.
