SLO County city smashed nearly 40-year-old heat record Thursday. Here’s how hot it got
February isn’t always known for record-breaking heat, but this week’s warmer-than-usual weather brought it to San Luis Obispo County anyways.
Paso Robles on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, broke its heat record for the day with a recorded temperature of 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
That was just above the previous record for the day of 80 degrees, set in 1986.
Meanwhile four other locations, all in Los Angeles County, also all broke their daily temperature records, according to the Weather Service. All recorded temperatures in the mid-to-high 80s Thursday, the agency said.
The record-breaking temperatures come at the tail end of a minor February heat wave that warmed up the Central Coast and Southern California this week.
The warm weather is not expected to last however.
According to the Weather Service, cooler temperatures are in the forecast for the region on Friday, with highs in the upper 60s and 70s.
Another dousing of rain is also expected to hit San Luis Obispo County in the coming days, starting with a chance of thunderstorms Friday night.
Light showers could then continue Saturday through Sunday.
