Rain is on its way to SLO County. Here’s when showers are expected to drench the area
You may need to break out your raincoat or umbrella in San Luis Obispo County this weekend.
Showers could arrive across the county on Saturday and Sunday, with more intense rainfall expected early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Here’s what to know about the weather forecast for the weekend and beyond:
What is the weather forecast in San Luis Obispo?
It is expected to be partly sunny throughout Friday with a high temperature of 60 degrees and an overnight low of 47, according to the National Weather Service’s latest seven-day forecast.
On Saturday, a 20% chain of rain will be followed by partly sunny conditions and a high temperature of 63 degrees, the weather agency said.
More rain could appear Saturday evening when there is a 40% chance of showers, according to the forecast. The overnight low temperature is 52 degrees.
“New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible,” the National Weather Service said.
On Sunday, more rain could fall, with a 30% chance of precipitation prior to 10 a.m. The high temperature will be near 65 degrees, the weather service said.
There is a 20% chance of rain after 10 p.m. on Sunday night, though conditions will be mostly cloudy with a low temperature of 51 degrees.
“Any rainfall looks like it’s going to be fairly light for the most part,” said Bryan Lewis, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Los Angeles-Oxnard.
According to the forecast, Monday will be mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. The high will be 60 degrees, and the low around 51.
More showers are expected starting on Tuesday night through Wednesday and possibly into Thursday morning, Lewis said.
“Next week looks like definitely the bigger (rain) event,” he said about the possibly the county could receive two inches of rain. “It does look like it’s going to be kind of light to moderate rainfall over that period of time,” Lewis said.
Will it rain in Paso Robles this weekend?
According to the National Weather Service’s forecast, partly sunny conditions are expected in Paso Robles on Friday, with a high temperature near 57 degrees.
On Friday evening, there is a 20% chance of rain after 10 p.m. The overnight low is expected to be around 46 degrees, the weather service said.
By late Saturday morning, there is a 30% chance of precipitation, with less than a tenth of an inch of rain expected. According to the forecast, it is expected to be mostly cloudy, with southwest wind gusts as high as 20 miles per hour and a high near 58 degrees.
Showers may continue Saturday night when there is a 40% chance of rain, the weather service said. It will be mostly cloudy and the low will be around 50.
According to the forecast, there is a 30% chance of rain before 10 a.m., followed by mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 62 degrees.
The evening hours present a 20% chance of rain between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. The overnight low will be around 49 degrees, the weather service said.
The National Weather Service said rain could fall again on Monday after 4 p.m. when there is a 30% chance of precipitation. Rain is also likely after 10 p.m.
More showers are expected through Tuesday, with continued chances of precipitation on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the forecast.
Lewis told The Tribune that the rain system moving through Paso Robles next week could bring about 1 to 2 inches of total rainfall.
