It could get ‘dangerously hot’ in SLO County this week. Here’s how warm it may get
San Luis Obispo County could see more “dangerously hot” weather during the weekend into next week.
An excessive heat watch was expected to go into effect Sunday morning for San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and Ventura counties, according to a National Weather Service alert.
The watch was set to expire Tuesday evening.
The alert said there would be a possibility of “dangerously hot conditions” with daytime high temperatures in the 90s to around 100 degrees in the southwestern California mountains.
In San Luis Obispo County, this appeared primarily to be in the inland areas, such as Paso Robles and Atascadero.
Paso Robles is forecast to see temperatures peak at 103 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, before briefly dipping down to the mid 90s at the end of the week.
Meanwhile, the coastal valleys and San Luis Obispo are expected to see temperatures predominately in the 80s throughout the week.
During the heat wave, the Weather Service recommended to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, keep out of the sun and check on relatives as well as neighbors.
The Weather Service also said car interiors could reach “lethal temperatures” in a matter of minutes, and said to avoid leaving young children or pets in unattended vehicles.
“Stay hydrated and never EVER leave children, pets, or elderly in a vehicle unattended,” a National Weather Service post on X read Friday morning.
