‘Heavy rain’ is on the way to SLO County this weekend. Here’s the forecast

Don’t put away your umbrellas just yet — San Luis Obispo County is in for another rainy weekend.

Showers will start Friday night, when the National Weather Service predicts a 70% chance of rain after 11 p.m.

The storm will intensify on Saturday, with a warning of “heavy rain” during the day.

In response, Cal Poly has canceled Saturday’s Poly Royal Parade, and moved some Open House events indoors to avoid the dreary weather, according to university spokesperson Keegan Koberl.

On Sunday, the Weather Service predicted a chance of showers after 11 a.m.

Weekend rain could drop up to 1.16 inches of rain on San Luis Obispo, 1.05 inches on Cambria and 0.66 inches on Paso Robles, the Weather Service predicted.

The bulk of the rain should fall between late Friday night and Saturday.

Sunshine should return on Monday — just in time for the start of the work week.
