Rain on the way as a new storm bears down on SLO County. Here’s what to expect
San Luis Obispo County is in for yet another wet weekend as a storm makes makes its way toward Southern California and the Central Coast.
According to a post on X by the National Weather Service, the storm could bring 1 to 3 inches of rain to the region, while foothills and mountains could see as much as 3 to 6 inches, which could cause flooding and mud and rock slides.
There is also a “remote” risk of thunderstorms Saturday night, with a 10-20% chance, according to the Weather Service.
Across San Luis Obispo County, rain was expected to start as early as overnight Wednesday, according to the NWS, with a 50% chance of rain after midnight and an 80% chance of continued precipitation through Thursday morning.
On Friday, the forecast shows a 50% chance of rain after noon, with otherwise partly sunny and breezy conditions that will give way to rain and potential thunderstorms Friday night.
These conditions will continue Saturday, with an 80% chance of precipitation. Sunday will likely see the rain taper off as skies clear for the coming week.
Temperatures in the city of San Luis Obispo will stick to the 60s for the most part, with peak temperatures going as high as 68 degrees Wednesday and as low as 59 degrees Saturday.
South County residents can expect the temperature to remain fixed at around 60 degrees, while North County residents can expect a warm, 70-degree Wednesday and temperatures as high as 65 degrees Thursday.
