Heavy winds headed for SLO County Sunday

High winds are headed for SLO County this weekend along with the heavy rains and flooding.

Parts of San Luis Obispo County were issued a high wind advisory Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service warned that winds will blow south at 20-30 miles per hour, with some gusts reaching up to 50 mph, in inland areas near the interior valleys of San Luis Obispo County. The advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 4 p.m. Monday.

The NWS warned residents of possible impacts near New Cuyama, Atascadero, Lake Nacimiento, Paso Robles, San Miguel, Templeton, the Carrizo Plains, Creston and Shandon.

The winds could pick up unsecured objects, and high-profile vehicles may be difficult to handle in the winds.

Power outages and broken tree limbs may occur, according to the advisory.
