SLO County could see strong winds, high surf again this weekend, NWS warns

San Luis Obispo County could see strong winds and high surf again this weekend.

The National Weather Service warned winds will blow northwest at 20-30 mph, with some gusts reaching up to 45 mph, in inland areas near the Santa Lucia mountain range.

The NWS warned residents near Hearst Castle, Irish Hills, Caliente Range, La Panza Range and Santa Margarita Lake of high winds.

According to the advisory, the winds could blow unsecured objects, and high-profile vehicles may be difficult to handle. Power outages and broken tree limbs may occur.

The wind advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.

High surf advisory continues for SLO County

Meanwhile the large waves that battered the coast last week are expected to continue through this weekend.

The NWS also warned that waves may reach between 12-16 feet with some sets reaching 20 feet. The highest surf will be expected on beaches facing west and northwest such as Morro Bay State Park and at the Oceano Dunes.

The agency cautioned against going into the ocean for any reason.

The high surf advisory will be in effect until 9 a.m. on Monday.
