Chance of rain comes with cooler days this week. Here’s SLO County’s weather forecast
Last week, gusty Santa Lucia (northeasterly/offshore) winds produced primarily clear and dry skies, resulting in cold mornings and warm afternoons.
This week, persistent northwesterly (onshore) winds will allow the marine layer to return to the coastal regions during the night and morning, resulting in warmer overnight lows but cooler daytime highs through Thursday. The inland areas will remain mostly fog-free.
A cold front is expected to produce increasing clouds and a chance of rain showers in far northern San Luis Obispo County on Monday.
A low-pressure system and associated cold front are expected to produce increasing southerly winds and a chance of rain showers on Friday into Saturday.
A pattern of fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) northwesterly winds developing during the afternoon and decreasing during the night and morning will allow low marine stratus clouds with pockets of fog and mist to form during the night and morning, clearing during the afternoon along the beaches and coastal valleys on Sunday into Thursday.
Over this period, the inland valleys (Paso Robles) and coastal valleys (San Luis Obispo) will warm to the 70s, while the beaches will reach the 60s.
Meanwhile, a series of low-pressure systems and associated cold fronts will move into Northern California with periods of rain this week.
These low-pressure systems will create variable amounts of mid- to high-level clouds over the Central Coast.
The last storm in this series is expected to move southward into the Central Coast with increasing southerly winds, clouds and rain showers Friday into Saturday. This active November weather pattern is forecast to continue into the following week.
