Get ready for some booms — San Luis Obispo County could potentially see rain and some thunderstorms this week thanks to remnants of a tropical storm hitting California’s coast.

There is a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms across Southern California on Wednesday and Thursday due to increased moisture from Tropical Storm Eugene, the National Weather Service said Tuesday.

“The main concerns include dangerous lightning, including possible fire starts and brief heavy rain leading to minor flooding,” the National Weather Service wrote in a tweet.

The National Weather Service also issued a special marine statement Tuesday for areas south of Piedras Blancas in advance of potential storms.

“A moist and unstable air mass will bring the potential for isolated thunderstorms to the coastal waters Wednesday through Thursday morning,” the agency wrote. “Any thunderstorm that forms will be capable of producing locally gusty winds and rough seas, dangerous lightning, heavy rainfall with reduced visibility and waterspouts.”

Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to drop across Southern California through Wednesday and remain cooler than normal throughout the rest of week, according to the National Weather Service.

Warmer temperatures and drier weather is expected to return over the weekend, however.
