What’s that sound? Storms expected to bring thunder, lightning to SLO County overnight
Bad news for all the light sleepers out there: A system of storms is expected to sweep across a portion of the Central Coast overnight, bringing with it the possibility of thunder and lightning.
According to the National Weather Service, the highest threat of thunderstorms will be over San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara counties through Tuesday morning.
The storms could bring up to half an inch of rain per hour, though only about an inch of total rainfall is expected to fall overall, the NWS said.
Brief wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour are also possible, according to the agency.
The storm system is expected to fully dissipate by Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said people should go inside if they see lightning and prepare for possible power outages.
