Floodwaters took out a section of Chimney Rock Road just south of Lake Nacimiento during heavy rains on Friday, cutting off at least 100 residents.

With about 100 feet of the road washed away, photos show a large gap and a river where there is usually just a trickling stream in northern San Luis Obispo County.

Just how long residents will be isolated is not yet known. The SLO County Public Works Department is planning on a temporary fix to the road while a permanent solution is figured out, public information officer Paula McCambridge wrote in an email to The Tribune over the weekend.
