It’s going to get a little chilly in parts of San Luis Obispo County this week with freezing overnight lows predicted in some locations.

The National Weather Service is predicting at least two cold days and nights, with daytime highs on Tuesday only reaching the low to mid-50 degrees.

Coastal and inland areas including Arroyo Grande, Avila Beach, Cambria, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Lopez Lake, Nipomo and San Luis Obispo will be under a frost advisory from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

That’s when temperatures are expected to dip down to as low as 32 degrees, the Weather Service advised.

The sun could warm things up Wednesday in San Luis Obispo County to a high of 50, according to the Weather Service.

Then, from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, the mercury will likely drop to a sub-freezing 30 degrees, according to a freeze watch issued by the Weather Service.

Two nights of low temperatures could cause crop damage and impact early morning travel, the agency said.

“Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the Weather Service advised. “Plan for extra time to defrost vehicle windshields.”
