Oceano residents forced to evacuate during storms can return home, SLO County says

Oceano residents forced to evacuate during a series of recent storms can finally return home.

The San Luis Obispo County Office of Emergency Services lifted its evacuation order and warning for the Oceano Lagoon and Arroyo Grande Creek Levee areas on Tuesday, according to a news release from the office.

Previously, the evacuation warning included four parts of Oceano:

  • North of Highway 1, West of 21st Street and South of Ocean Street
  • North of the Arroyo Grande Creek Levee
  • South of Wilshire Avenue, Highway 1 and Pier Avenue
  • East of Strand Way

Areas south of the Arroyo Grande Creek Levee were previously under an evacuation order. Folks living in those areas can also return home, the news release said.

Folks can visit RecoverSLO.org to find instructions on “how to re-enter your home if you experienced damage, cleanup and recover resources, and information regarding financial assistance,” the county said in the release.

People can also report storm damage to their property on RecoverSLO.org. That will assist the county is applying for disaster relief funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Services said.
