Rain on the way to SLO County this week. Here’s how much we might get

Areas of San Luis Obispo County may see more than an inch of rain this week as a storm approaches Southern California.

The National Weather Service is predicting that the coastal and central areas of the county may see the rain start to fall as early as Wednesday evening, but the heaviest will likely occur from Thursday afternoon into Friday morning.

Early predictions by the Weather Service show Cambria, Paso Robles, Atascadero and San Luis Obispo each getting more than an inch of rainfall from Thursday through Friday.

The precipitation is much needed as San Luis Obispo County and much of California continues to experience severe drought conditions, despite early November rains.

Stormy weather in the Central Coast region will come with gusty winds, according to the Weather Service.

As the rain falls on Thursday, wind speeds in San Luis Obispo are expected to peak at 32 miles per hour, with gusts up to 34 miles per hour, the Weather Service predicts. The windiest conditions will likely come Thursday evening, with conditions calming down as the storm passes.

The county will continue to see unsettled weather into the weekend, with a chance of showers on both Saturday and Sunday before mostly sunny skies return on Monday.
