One SLO County spot saw more than 7 inches of rain during storm. Here’s what your area got

A powerful two-day winter storm brought strong winds and heavy rains to much of San Luis Obispo County early this week, drenching the region with several inches of rain.

Between Monday and Tuesday, many areas of the county received more than 2 inches of rainfall, with some reporting upwards of 4 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, at one point Monday night, as much as 1 inch per hour was raining down on San Luis Obispo County.

The most rainfall was reported at Camp San Luis Obispo, which recorded a whopping 7.44 inches of rain over the two-day storm, with Rocky Butte — routinely San Luis Obispo County’s wettest area — coming in second with 5.7 inches of rainfall in that same time period.

The rain is expected to taper off Tuesday night, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey, but will likely return on Thursday as a low-pressure system and cold front will produce moderate to fresh (13 to 24 mph) southerly winds, rain and mountain snow.
