Brrr! SLO County could see freezing temperatures, frost this weekend

Make sure to bring in your animals and protect your plants this weekend, as it’s expected to get pretty chilly across the Central Coast.

The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for the entirety of San Luis Obispo County, and a freeze warning specifically for North County areas like Paso Robles, Atascadero and Cuyama.

Both the frost advisory and freeze warning will be in effect from midnight to 8 a.m. Saturday.

Temperatures could get as low as 34 degrees across much of the region, according to the Weather Service, while falling as low as 27 degrees in the North County.

The frigid temperatures could ease up a bit Saturday night, but the Weather Forecast is still predicting below-freezing lows in Atascadero and Paso Robles.

Frost and freezing temperatures can damage sensitive plants and harm pets if left unprotected, so people are reminded to protect their outdoor plants and bring in their animals.

Drivers are also reminded to set aside a little extra time in the morning to defrost their windshields.

The cold weather is expected to give way to a major storm system early next week, bringing rain and wind to SLO County starting on Monday.
