SLO County weather forecast for the week of Nov. 21: Warm temperatures and windy

Much like last Sunday, fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph with gusts to 40 mph), Santa Lucia (northeasterly/offshore) winds and increasing high pressure over Central California will produce clear, dry, and warmer conditions on Sunday into Monday. High temperatures on Sunday and Monday will reach the low to mid-80s along the beaches and coastal valleys (San Luis Obispo) and mid-70s in the inland valleys (Paso Robles).

Dense Tule fog will continue to develop across the southern half of the San Joaquin Valley.

The Santa Lucia winds will decrease and shift out of the northwest on Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning and should allow a few areas of low marine clouds to develop along the beaches by Tuesday morning.

Fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) northwesterly winds, partly cloudy skies, and cooler temperatures will develop on Tuesday afternoon and night.

For the rest of the week, night and morning, Santa Lucia winds will persist through the Thanksgiving holiday with substantial high-pressure overhead and above-average temperatures. In fact, by next weekend could reach the 80s again.

The longer-range models indicate increasing southerly pre-frontal winds and rain on November 29 as a cold front passes through the Central Coast.

Surf report

Sunday’s 4- to 6-foot northwesterly (295-degree, deep-water) swell (with an 8- to 12-second period) will decrease to 3- to 5-feet (with an 8- to 11-second period) on Monday into Tuesday morning.

Increasing northwesterly winds will generate a 6- to 8-foot northwesterly (310-degree, deep-water) sea and swell (with a 5- to 15-second period) will on Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday, becoming a 5- to 7-foot northwesterly (295-degree, deep-water) swell (with an 8- to 18-second period) on Thursday into Saturday.

High northwesterly swell conditions are forecast during the first week of December.

Seawater temperatures will range between 54 and 57 degrees through Friday.
