SLO County weather forecast for the week of Aug. 30: Clear skies, warm temperatures
Typical summer weather is expected early this week with night and morning marine low clouds and seasonal temperatures, followed by possible Santa Lucia (northeasterly) winds, clear skies and warm to hot temperatures this upcoming weekend.
On Sunday through Tuesday, an upper-level trough along the California coastline will produce gentle to moderate (8 to 18 mph) northwesterly winds along the coastline which will allow the marine layer with night and morning mist and fog to become more persistent in the coastal regions. In fact, many of the beaches will remain overcast throughout the day.
High temperatures on Sunday and Monday will range from the mid-90s in the inland valleys (Paso Robles), and high-70s in the coastal valleys (San Luis Obispo). The beaches will remain in the 60s.
The upper-level trough will move away from the Central Coast and a ridge of high pressure will take its place over California starting on Wednesday. This condition will allow for temperatures to gradually rise throughout our region and the afternoon northwesterly winds along the coastline to increase to fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) levels.
The Santa Lucia (northeasterly) winds are forecast during the morning hours next Saturday and Sunday which should produce clear skies and warm to hot temperatures with the inland valleys hitting triple-digit levels, while the coastal valleys are expected to reach the 90s and the beaches the 80s. This heat is expected to continue through early next week, but no extreme heat is expected at this time.
Subtropical moisture from Tropical Storm Hernan and Tropical Storm Iselle near Baja California are not expected to impact the Central Coast this week.
