See more dramatic photos of the wildfire smoke covering SLO County skies

Thursday once again dawned with hazy skies and red suns as smoke from California wildfires filled San Luis Obispo County.

Air quality throughout the county was bad — very bad — and it is unclear when exactly the smoke might clear from the area.

As of Thursday afternoon, containment on the Dolan Fire near Big Sur — by far the largest contributor to local smoke — was still at only 0%, with 2,500 acres burned.

As the smoke descended upon San Luis Obispo County, residents captured dramatic photos of the strangely apocalyptic-looking landscape. For The Tribune’s first installment of reader photos, go here).

Also, make sure to protect yourself by following these wildfire smoke safety tips from the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District, San Luis Obispo County Public Health and the American Lung Association.
