If someone was asked to predict the weather from historical atmospheric data only, this week’s weather conditions would reflect the long-term averages for August.

Gentle to moderate (8 to 18 mph) southwesterly to northwesterly (onshore) winds along the coastline will continue through Wednesday. Consequently, night and morning marine low clouds with areas of mist and fog will develop in the coastal regions. These clouds are favored to clear around midday for typical summertime days; however, overcast skies may persist along a few of the beaches for most of the day.

High temperatures along the beaches will reach the 60s. The coastal valleys (San Luis Obispo) will range between the low to mid 70s, while the inland valleys (Paso Robles) will hit the low to mid-90s this week.

Fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) afternoon northwesterly winds along the coastline on Thursday through Saturday will produce a greater amount of clearing of the coastal stratus during the afternoon and warmer temperatures along the southerly facing beaches. The long-range models show seasonable conditions continuing into next weekend.
