Flood advisory issued for San Luis Obispo County

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory warning for San Luis Obispo County and elsewhere along the Central Coast through 10:45 p.m. Sunday.

The advisory went into affect about 5 p.m. for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

Two rock slides on Highway 41 and several minor vehicle collisions were reported throughout San Luis Obispo County to the California Highway Patrol on Sunday. The Weather Service always cautions drivers to “turn around, don’t drown” if the road floods.

Flooding may occur across the county, in San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Atascadero, Arroyo Grande, Cambria and Nipomo, the advisory stated. Santa Maria could also see flooding.

Total rainfall Sunday into Monday is expected to range between 1.50 and 2.25 inches, according to PG&E Meteorologist John Lindsey.

Rain and cold weather is forecast throughout the week.
