Rain soaked SLO County on Wednesday. See how much fell in your area
Rain doused San Luis Obispo County again overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with some areas receiving more than an inch of rain.
Rocky Butte reported 1.26 inches, while Cal Poly received 0.59 inches and Los Osos received approximately 0.70 inches, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey.
Santa Margarita reported 0.90 inches, Atascadero saw 1.06 inches and Paso Robles Municipal Airport reported 1.40 inches, he said.
“Overall, it’s a little lighter than predicted, but not by a lot,” Lindsey said.
The heaviest rains were reported early Wednesday morning, between 1 and 4 a.m., Lindsey said.
“It came down pretty heavy, and even around 4 a.m. it was coming down pretty good,” Lindsey said. “We had very intense rain from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m., really decent rainfall.”
The National Weather Service tweeted that based on preliminary data, Paso Robles broke its record Wednesday for rainfall, clocking 1.27 inches.
There were also some gusty winds. At about 1 a.m., winds at Diablo Canyon power plant near Avila Beach reached speeds of 37 mph and gusts of 57 mph, Lindsey said.
Lindsey said some light rain showers may occur Thursday morning, and then there should be a break in the rain until about Friday night.
Winds will start picking up Friday afternoon and will develop into moderate-to-fresh gale-force winds at speeds ranging from 32 to 46 mph by Friday night, Lindsey said. Those winds will start decreasing in speed from Saturday afternoon into Sunday.
San Luis Obispo County could see between a half-inch and 1.5 inches of rain on Saturday, and between a quarter-inch to 0.75 inches on Sunday, Lindsey said.
“The heaviest rains will be north of Morro Bay, in Cambria, Harmony and San Simeon,” Lindsey said, adding that the Santa Lucia Mountains above Cambria could see 3 to 4 inches of rain over the weekend.
