Who will be Arroyo Grande’s next mayor? See latest election results for that, City Council
Jamie Maraviglia took an early lead in the race for the Arroyo Grande City Council on Tuesday night, while Mayor Caren Ray Russom was far ahead of Gaea Powell in the race for mayor.
According to the final Election Night ballot count release with all precincts reporting, Ray Russom took a commanding lead over Powell, securing 65.6% and 34.4% of the vote, respectively.
At her watch party at Humdinger Brewing in downtown Arroyo Grande, Ray Russom said she was looking forward to continuing to serve Arroyo Grande’s citizens should early results hold.
“I think I would say that Arroyo Grande has had really good and steady leadership — not just from myself but from the rest of the council for quite some time — and I think that’s reflected in the outcome today,” Ray Russom said. “It’s certainly not done and we’ll have final numbers in the coming weeks but it would seem that the people of Arroyo Grande have spoken pretty clearly that they are happy with the leadership we have.”
In the District 3 City Council race, Maraviglia led Marlea Harmon 57.2% to 42.8%.
In District 2, Aileen Loe ran for City Council unopposed, receiving 1,026 votes.
Ballot Measure E-24, which asked voters to consider a half-cent sales tax that would provide around $4 million a year to carry out infrastructure projects, secured 65.5% of the vote as of 12:20 a.m.
As of the final release, 6,179 ballots had been counted in the Arroyo Grande race, or around 46.7% of the registered voter population in the city.
The last Election Night release included vote-by-mail ballots that were counted the weekend ahead of Election Day as well as ballots cast in person on Tuesday.
