Deputy District Attorney Mike Frye wins race for SLO County Superior Court judge
Deputy District Attorney Mike Frye won his race for San Luis Obispo County Superior Court judge, posting a 34-point lead by the end of election night.
With all precincts reporting, as of 1 a.m., Frye led the race with 67.7% of the vote, while San Luis Obispo Attorney Paul Phillips had 32.3%.
Frye and Phillips are running to fill the Office No. 12 seat vacated by retiring Judge Linda Lewis.
Frye is currently a prosecutor and heads the public integrity unit in SLO County. Meanwhile, Phillips has his own general law practice in San Luis Obispo.
The seat contested by Frye and Phillips is not the only one that was present on the ballot, although it was the only one with more than one candidate.
Erin Childs, family law commissioner for SLO County, ran unopposed for the Office No. 10 seat, which was vacated by retiring Judge Dodie A. Harmon.
The election night results are not final. Vote tallies are subject to change over the coming days as the San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder’s Office processes more last-minute and provisional ballots.
Final election results could take up until early July to be certified.
