SLO County's election results are certified
The San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder's Office on Wednesday certified the results of the Nov. 4 election, making the final tallies for all races in the county official.
The certification opens the door to a possible recount request from a Pismo Beach mayoral candidate.
Kevin Kreowski has five days to request a recount in his bid to unseat Mayor Shelly Higginbotham, who finished two votes ahead of him in that race.
A fundraising effort to pay for a recount had raised more than $3,300 as of 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The results also mean that Arroyo Grande Mayor Tony Ferrara lost his seat to write-in challenger Jim Hill and will have to resign his post as president of the League of California Cities, a position he's held for about three months.
Arroyo Grande City Clerk Kelly Wetmore said the council will hold a special meeting on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m., when the current council will accept the election results and the newly-elected officials will be sworn in and take their seats.
In the Arroyo Grande council race, incumbent Tim Brown and newcomer Barbara Harmon won the two seats, while incumbent Joe Costello was voted off the council.
