This SLO County city just launched a new tool to track homelessness
More than 100 people experience homelessness in Paso Robles at any time, and the city now has a new system that will help it and its partners track gains and share them with the public.
According to a news release, the City of Paso Robles has launched a Community Impact and Response Dashboard, intended to measure and improve outcomes related to homelessness, public safety, environmental health and community impact. Using data from city departments, county agencies and local service providers, the dashboard provides quarterly updates on what’s proving effective and what may not be.
“This is about understanding, in real terms, what is working and where we need to adjust to meet the needs of our community,” Paso Robles Homeless Services manager Ashlee Hernandez said in the news release. “It allows us to respond with both compassion and precision, supporting individuals while also addressing broader community impacts.”
Introduced to the Paso Robles City Council in April, the tracking system now features data collected from Oct. 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026, and tracks performance across three priorities: housing stability and navigation support, clean and resilient public spaces, and community safety and emergency responses.
According to the updated dashboard, homelessness nonprofit El Camino Housing Organization, or ECHO, enrolled 100 unhoused residents in its facility and helped place 22 into housing. The city itself reported removing 100,000 pounds of debris and waste from public areas, and the Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services Department responded to 11 fire and 46 medical responses.
“This tool brings clarity to complex work,” Community Services Director Angelica Fortin said in the news release. “It helps us measure progress over time, make informed decisions and provide meaningful insight to the community we serve.”
This new dashboard also supports the city’s broader strategic plan to end homelessness, which was implemented by the council in 2023, providing the city with six focus areas to guide local action.
The dashboard is now active on the city’s website and is updated every quarter under the fiscal year of July 1 through June 30.
