SLO County State Assembly member Dawn Addis is out on medical leave. Here’s what happened
California State Assemblymember Dawn Addis is out on medical leave after a surgery, she said in a news release on Saturday.
“I’m in good spirits, and I should be able to return to work in a couple weeks’ time,” said Addis, who represents District 30, which includes parts of San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.
In late December, Addis visited the emergency room for severe stomach pain. She then scheduled a surgery to remove a mass from her stomach.
Addis’ medical leave started during the second week of January, according to her chief of staff Julie Cravotto.
After the surgery, Addis confirmed that the mass was not cancerous.
“I am grateful to health professionals on the Central Coast who took care of me and continue to monitor my progress,” she said in the news release. “At times like this I’m reminded how important and urgent it is to ensure that every Californian has lifesaving medical care. I remain committed to expanding access to and improving the affordability of high quality health care.”
