A Missouri man accused of killing a woman he was romantically involved with has been arrested.

Martino Lewis of St. Louis is charged with murder, armed criminal action and domestic assault, according to court records obtained by McClatchy News.

Attorney information for Lewis was not available.

On April 24, Lewis was heard arguing with Kelsey Elem, a witness told authorities, according to a criminal complaint, which stated the two were in a “romantic relationship.”

The witness said Lewis then punched Elem, the complaint said.

Elem then asked the witness to call 911 because she was scared Lewis would go get her gun, according to the court records.

“While on the phone with 911,” the witness heard a gunshot then saw Lewis run out of the home and leave in Elem’s car, the complaint said.

Elem was taken to a hospital where she died, KTVI reported.

“It’s still like a shock to me,” Elem’s mom, Calvenita Brock, told KSDK. “I’m still like I’m in a dream.”

Elem’s family said the 25-year-old was a selfless person and always thought about others.

“She’ll take her shoes off her feet and give it to a person,” Brock told KSDK.

“I’ve seen her do it plenty of times,” her sister Zioreyah Moton followed up, per KSDK.

Lewis’ bond was set at $400,000, according to court records.
