A dad shot his son and estranged wife following a fight, Connecticut officials said.

On March 27, a 59-year-old man was moving out of a home with the help of his 34-year-old son and his son’s friend, according to a Facebook post by the Wolcott Police Department.

The son’s mother, who resided in a different town, arrived at the house to help, officials said.

During the moving-out process, the man got into an argument with his son and the 55-year-old woman, resulting in him fatally shooting them both, officials said.

The son’s friend, armed with a legal firearm, tried to intervene and eventually shot the father dead, officials said.

Then he called 911, officials said.

The bodies of the three people were found dead on the bedroom floor, officials said.

Police did not say if the son’s friend is facing any legal consequences but called the investigation into this incident “very active.”

Wolcott is about a 30-mile northwest of New Haven.
