Chipped cat had home for years — but owner is now unreachable. ‘Calls went unanswered’
A spunky cat is on the hunt for a new home after her former owner left her at an Indiana shelter.
Amy, dubbed a “sweet and sassy torbie who’s ready for a forever home” by the Humane Society for Hamilton County, had known only one owner in her lifetime, and now she’s ready to start a new adventure with a new human.
“Amy’s story didn’t start the way it should have. After spending EIGHT YEARS with her owner, she found herself at HSHC—waiting, hoping, and wondering why no one was coming back for her,” the shelter, located in Fishers, said in a Feb. 3 Facebook post. “Seven calls went unanswered, and Amy realized she needed to find a new human to love.”
The charming feline was brought into the shelter as a stray, and her owner’s information was discovered on a microchip, Lily Darling, the community engagement manager at the humane society told McClatchy News.
“After seven failed phone calls and attempts to reunite the two, it was decided that she would find her new family here at the shelter,” Darling said.
Amy is a petite girl who now loves people after getting over a bit of shyness, her pet profile says. She also has a funny little quirk — she’s obsessed with sinks.
“My foster mom reports that I was so shy at first, but after a couple of months, I finally opened up to her. I paid close attention to her routine, heading to the bathroom with her because I am cuckoo for the sink!” her profile says.
Other sweet attributes about her include:
Affectionate and loves scratches
Extremely talkative and “loves to chat and tell you about her day,” the shelter says
Needs to have the spotlight
Litter box trained
A little bit of a diva and loves “looking her best”
“Amy deserves to be someone’s treasured pet. She’s got so much love to give and is more than ready to find a home where she’ll never be forgotten again,” the shelter said.

Fishers is about a 20-mile drive northeast from Indianapolis.
