An Ohio woman is dead after police say she was shot and killed by her boyfriend, who was a sheriff’s deputy.

On Jan. 27, 2025 police in Stow responded to a report of a possible suicide, according to a Facebook post by the Stow Police Department.

Inside, officers found Latoia Philpott and Benjamin Asiedu dead.

Philpott’s family went to the home when they weren’t able to get a hold of her. That’s when they found the scene that police are calling a murder-suicide.

Police said Asiedu shot Philpott multiple times before taking his own life.

The two had been dating for over a year, police said. Philpott was a mother of five

Asiedu was a Summit County sheriff’s deputy, according to WJW. He was hired in 2023 and worked at the Summit County Jail, WEWS reported.

Philpott is remembered as a “beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend,” her family told police.

Stow is about a 35-mile drive south of Cleveland.
