A Michigan plumbing company said a worker who left religious messages in people’s homes during repairs is no longer employed by the business.

SPS Pro Plumbing was made aware that an employee was writing “Jesus Saves” in wet cement in people’s homes while replacing lead service lines, Dan Zeman of SPS Pro Plumbing told McClatchy News via email Oct 22.

“We addressed the employee within the last two weeks and instructed them to discontinue this behavior immediately,” the company said in an Oct. 21 news release shared with McClatchy News.

The employee continued leaving messages and is no longer with the company, according to the release.

“He was unapologetic about his actions,” Zeman said.

“We do not condone this behavior,” the company said, expressing later, “we truly apologize to all the residents affected.”

“We have been proactive in reaching out to the homeowners that have been affected,” adding that it is “actively making the repairs to correct the damage done.”

One Grand Rapids family told WXMI they plan to keep the message.
