Driver hits two sisters crossing intersection, killing one, Wisconsin family says
A Wisconsin driver hit two sisters crossing the road, killing one and seriously injuring the other before fleeing the scene, police and family members said.
The two women were crossing an intersection just before midnight on Sept. 21 when they were hit, according to a report from the Milwaukee Police Department.
Family members identified the two victims as 20-year-old Talise Dunmore and 23-year-old De-Lisha Dunmore, WISN reported.
Talise Dunmore was killed in the hit-and-run, and De-Lisha Dunmore sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police reported.
“She lit up every room she walked in,” a friend of Talise Dunmore posted on Facebook. “She was the sweetest.”
The sisters’ mother said the driver was going at least 80 mph with the headlights off, WITI reported.
The 34-year-old driver fled the scene but was later found and arrested, police said.
Authorities said the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing charges.
