Costco shopper’s gun goes off in purse, injuring her and two others, Michigan cops say
Three people were injured when a gun accidentally discharged in a Costco store, according to Michigan police and news reports.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said the gun went off in a woman’s purse around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, according to WWMT.
She was shot in the hand and taken to a hospital, authorities told WOOD. The sheriff’s office said she was a legal gun owner.
Two others were also reportedly injured. One person suffered an ankle injury, while one other individual “fainted during the commotion,” according to WKZO.
WXMI reported Costco shoppers were “scrambling for the exit” after the shooting.
Costco only allows authorized law enforcement officers to carry firearms or other weapons in their stores, according to their member privileges and conditions.
It’s unclear if the woman faces any charges.
