A group of minors and an adult man took part in assaulting, robbing and threatening a 13-year-old boy trapped inside a Maine mobile home, authorities said.

The 13-year-old was visiting the Wilton Mobile Home Park the evening of Aug. 16, when he was attacked with a weapon and held in a camper “with no ability to leave,” according to an Aug. 27 news release issued by the Wilton Police Department. He was also threatened with a weapon, police said.

The next day, police said they “received a complaint involving 8 juveniles and 1 adult in which serious crimes were committed against” the teen.

A 12-year-old, a 14-year-old and 15-year-old from Wilton, as well as a 16-year-old from the neighboring town of Farmington were arrested following an investigation, according to authorities. Ty Looney, 23, of Farmington, was also arrested, police said.

Information regarding Looney’s legal representation wasn’t immediately available.

When police conducted a search warrant of the camper where the 13-year-old was attacked, they found items that had been stolen from him, according to authorities.

The four minors, who were taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center, and Looney are charged with robbery, aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and criminal restraint, police said.

Looney is also charged with violation of condition of release, according to police, who said he “was released on a deferred disposition for prior criminal conduct at the time of the incident.”

The 12-year-old and three teens involved in assaulting the 13-year-old have a lengthy criminal history in Franklin County and likely outside of the county, police said in listing prior charges against them.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the Aug. 16 assault and are asking anyone who may have any relevant information to contact the department’s investigators.

Wilton is about a 35-mile drive northwest from Augusta.
