Mom’s boyfriend kidnaps 6-year-old at gunpoint, flees in FedEx van, Oklahoma cops say
An Oklahoma man who said he was intervening in a “custody dispute” abducted a 6-year-old girl at gunpoint from her father’s house, according to police.
Officers responded at about 9 p.m. Aug. 13 to reports of a child abduction in progress, according to a news release from the Tulsa Police Department.
The child’s father said a man showed up at his house and pointed a pistol at multiple people while demanding his 6-year-old daughter, threatening to shoot everyone if he didn’t hand her over, according to police.
The suspect told the father, “She’s in good hands,” before fleeing with the girl in a large FedEx van, police said.
The father identified the abductor to authorities as the man his daughter’s mother is dating, according to police
Authorities were alerted that a FedEx van was spotted on a FLOCK camera, but when they located the vehicle, the child was not inside, police said.
The suspect told police he was intervening in a “custody dispute” and dropped the child off at her mother’s house because she said she wanted to go there, according to authorities.
Police said they found the child at her mother’s house.
The man was booked into the Tulsa County jail and charged with child abduction and five counts of pointing a deadly weapon, according to police.
McClatchy News is not naming the suspect to protect the identity of the child.
