18-year-old shoots stepdad to death in argument over bottled water, Arizona cops say
An 18-year-old is accused of shooting his stepdad to death over an argument about a case of bottled water, Arizona police said.
Authorities responded to a shooting at about 10:28 p.m. July 31, the Phoenix Police Department said in a probable cause statement.
While at the home, police said they learned Camron Greenwood had gotten into a verbal fight with his stepfather over water bottles.
Greenwood told police his stepfather punched or hit him in the face multiple times, according to the documents.
His mother also said she saw her son get punched, police said.
Then Greenwood pulled out his handgun and shot the man in the chest from about 6 feet away, police said.
He told authorities he pointed the gun at his stepdad for about 20 seconds before shooting, according to the documents.
Greenwood told police he had planned to scare his stepdad but made a mistake in shooting him.
He was arrested and booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
A court hearing will be held Aug. 7.
