Four teens evading police in a stolen vehicle were involved in a crash that killed an 85-year-old driver, Oklahoma police said.

Officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle on June 27 at about 9:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Enid Police Department posted to Facebook.

“The driver of the stolen vehicle refused to stop and began eluding the officer at a high rate of speed,” police said.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of the stolen pickup truck was a 14-year-old boy from Enid, the Enid News and Eagle reported.

The three other occupants were between the ages of 15 and 16, police said.

Shortly after losing sight of the stolen vehicle, police said they learned it was involved in a collision at a nearby intersection.

Police said evidence from the scene indicates the driver of the stolen truck ran through a stop sign “at a high rate of speed,” striking and killing another driver.

The victim was identified by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol as 85-year-old Francis L. Boyle, of Burlington, KOCO reported.

Boyle was pronounced dead at the scene, the outlet reported.

All four teens, some in critical condition, were taken to a local hospital, according to police.

The collision is being investigated by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, police said.

All occupants “are expected to face serious criminal charges as the investigation progresses,” according to police.

Enid is about a 90-mile drive north from Oklahoma City.
