Woman drives SUV at customer inside gas station store during fight, Oklahoma cops say
In a “chaotic scene,” a woman drove her SUV through a gas station storefront, hitting several people, during a confrontation with another customer, Oklahoma cops said.
Officers responded around 7 p.m. on June 19 to reports of an injury collision at a QuikTrip gas station in Tulsa, according to a June 20 Facebook post from the Tulsa Police Department.
Officers learned the driver of the SUV, Ashley Blackmon, was arguing with another woman and following her around the parking lot, police said.
When the woman went inside to ask employees to call the police, “Blackmon drove her SUV at the victim and crashed into the store,” police said.
Blackmon was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
McClatchy News was unable to locate attorney information for Blackmon.
Several people inside were hit, and one person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
“While officers were on scene, a criminal mastermind decided it would be a good time to grab a couple cases of beer during the chaos without paying for them,” police said.
That suspect was quickly stopped and cited for larceny, authorities said.
The Tulsa Police Department said that as a tribal member, Blackmon falls under the McGirt ruling, which states that Oklahoma has no legal jurisdiction in crimes committed on land controlled by the state’s Five Tribes, so she can only be prosecuted in tribal court or federal court.
