Sweet dog named Sugar has been at shelter for half her life. She still needs a home
A longtime resident of one New York shelter is hoping that her luck will shift and she finally gets the loving home she deserves.
Meet Sugar, a lab-mix who has lived at Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society since April 2022 when she was 1½ after her person “abandoned” her.
“It’s no fault of her own because Sugar is just as sweet as her name. She’s a lovable, energetic, and playful girl,” the Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society said in a May 30 Facebook post.
“Being stuck at the shelter in a kennel is awful for any dog, but Sugar spends most of her time waiting for her daily outside time. In the summer, she is truly herself when she gets to take full advantage of the yard, running and playing with Lori. She is very toy and treat-motivated, and we are endlessly entertained by her zoomies in the yard.”
The post went on to say that Sugar doesn’t get too much interest, even though she’s a loving girl who is “all about giving hugs” and “kisses.”
The comments started rolling in, with most people sending their love to the adorable pup.
“Oh please someone adopt her. She has been one of my favorites and how I wish I was healthy enough to get her. She’s beautiful. Come on good people let’s give this gorgeous girl a chance,” one person said.
“Sending prayers for you Sugar that your forever person will come,” another noted.
“What a beautiful girl! Can’t imagine she’s been there so long!” someone commented.
